The Area52 Vortex Webring is an extremely prestigious ring for the very best SF, Fantasy and Paranormal sites on the web.
To join the Area52 Vortex Webring your site must have a theme that falls within the realm of SF, Fantasy and/or the Paranormal. This can include but is not exclusive to SF, Fantasy, vampires, dragons, Star Trek, Star Wars, other SF and Fantasy TV shows and movies, SF and Fantasy artwork and books, ghosts, aliens, UFOs, space, RPGs, and anything else that fits into the overall theme of SF, Fantasy and the Paranormal.
Your site should be outstanding. Grammar and spelling should be as perfect as possible, unless there is a reason for the grammar and spelling to be odd (say, for an alien in a fan fiction piece). Any music you have on your site must be able to be turned off by the visitor. You must have real content: a few cool graphics and a bunch of links do not count as content. Your site should be fresh and original and it should be evident that it is updated with some frequency. Broken graphics and links count against your site, so be sure everything works before you apply. You must place the Area52 Vortex Webring code and graphic on the page you apply for as soon as you submit your site.
No porn, hacking, bigotry, hate sites, child exploitation, excessively offensive material or language or warez allowed. Commercial sites and WYSIWYG or Pagebuilder pages need not apply. Porn does not apply to fantasy art, which may include some nudity. Offensive material does not mean one or two cuss words or screen shots from cheesy horror movies. The site overall must be extremely offensive for this rule to apply.
Your site will be viewed and voted on by a panel of Area52 Community Leaders. You will receive an acknowledgment of your application within a day and you will be informed of whether or not you have been accepted in ten days of submitting your site. Sites without ring codes on the submitted page will remain in the queue for three weeks and then deleted if the code does not appear.
If your application is rejected, you will receive an explanation as to why and suggestions to fix up your site to make it worthy of this prestigious ring, and you will be encouraged to try again. You will also be offered help by our members to make your site the best it can be.
